Qualifications

  1. Be a practicing Roman Catholic, who is Irish or of Irish descent through either parent, or who is legally adopted by such.
  2. Be between 16 and 23 years of age.
  3. Never have been married and is childless.
  4. Have completed the official Biographical form and submit a $20.00 entry fee along with it.
  5. Have submitted all entry forms by Friday, February 14, 2026, to the chairperson: Maureen Kelly – 313.475.7405.
  6. Appear before the committee for an interview on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the AOH Hall. Program is Saturday, February 21, 2026
  7. If you are selected, you are expected to appear at the 2026 events:

  • If there are any other events throughout the year, you will be notified.

  • Scholarship money will be awarded in July. Checks are made out to you and the school of your choice.

  • Sashes must be returned by November of 2026.

  1. You may enter the program multiple years, unless you are the 1st place winner. Once you are the 1st place winner you may not enter again.

Basis of Selection:

Application, personality, knowledge of Irish heritage, poise and appearance.

Selection Process:

A panel of independent judges will select three applicants for the positions of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
